Fired Up Restaurants – With Neapolitan Brick Oven

Neapolitan Brick Oven

At the beginning of each year, we like to give special recognition to newly opened restaurants that incorporate our Neapolitan Brick Ovens into their own beautiful design.

Our top picks for 2019 were:

In order to receive a shot out this year, each restaurant chosen had to meet the following criteria:

    1. Have a high Yelp or Trip Advisor rating
    2. Have a passion for Neapolitan brick oven cooking
    3. Have an awesome atmosphere

    Pizza Capo – McMinnville

At this Oregon hotspot,  Kyle Munroe and Jeremy Whyte,  teamed up with accomplished restaurateur, Scott Cunningham, to bring Neapolitan-style woodfired pizza (they studied with Vera Pizza Napoletana in Italy) to McMinnville, Oregon. Pizza Capo’s menu combines authentic Italian recipes with locally-sourced ingredients from the Pacific Northwest. Their food is paired with local, Willamette Valley wines, Oregon craft beers, and a lively, casual vibe.

Tarantula Hill Brewing Co – Thousand Oaks CA

    Best Pizza and Craft Beer

Artisanal, wood-fired, organic pizzas are the perfect partner for in-house brewed craft beers at Thousand Oaks’ first and only craft brewery! The mission of this popular eatery is to offer both a high-quality beer and artisan food experience coming out of a Neapolitan brick oven to their customers – and they have already accomplished it.

Alto Kitchen & Bar – Panorama British Columbia

    Best pizza on the slopes

Imagine warming up with hot, gourmet pizzas at the base of a snow-covered mountain slope. This new restaurant is also the go-to place for delicious breakfast, gourmet lunches, special culinary events, and elegant dinners.  Alto is known for casual, gourmet dining in a beautiful setting, served up with warm and welcoming mountain hospitality and of course for the woodfired Neapolitan brick oven.

Taglio Cucina & Pizzeria Romana  FL

    Florida’s First True Roman Pizzeria

Taglio proudly serves all-natural and non-GMO Roman-style Pizza al Taglio “Tah-LeeOh” or ‘Pizza by the Slice’ – Their 96-hour cold-fermented dough results in a highly digestible, light, airy, and delicious pizza – just like that found in Rome. In addition to their great selection of pizza alla romana, Taglio also offers other authentically Italian specialties as well with a classy look of Red Neapolitan brick oven.

     Poole’side Pies – Raleigh, NC

This Neapolitan-inspired “pizza joint” by James Beard Award winner Ashley Christensen offers a one-of-a-kind Chef-forward pizza concept… Her spin on pizza, starters, spritzes, and desserts are a culinary journey just begging to be embarked upon!. From Crispy Pork Belly topped pizza to Crudite “tonnato” salad and Buttermilk Bomboloni – this menu is as cool as the concept itself.

    Stellina Pizzeria –  D.C.

“One of the 15 Hottest Restaurants in DC”

“The 10 Best Casual Dining Restaurants for 2019”

    “DC’s Best New Restaurants 2019”

Pizza University & Culinary Arts Center alumni, Matteo Venini,  opened Stellina with his business partner Antonio Matarazzo… As both a chef and certified Pizzaiolo, Venini wanted to be able to offer authentic Italian street food to his patrons using quality ingredients that he and his business partner remembered experiencing in Italy. With years of fine-dining experience under his belt,  he serves up street food with the attention to detail and creativity that is normally reserved for high-end establishments. Their fried artichokes were also named one of the “best dishes in Washington” last year.

    Tino’s – D.C

Tino’s pizzeria concept was inspired by Chef Logan Griffith’s pizza-making passion and intrigue to create a traditional yet modern Neapolitan style pizza. He teamed up with his longtime friend, mentor and fellow Chef Joe McCarthy in order to open Tino’s.  The restaurant’s name was inspired by Logan and wife Maria’s newly arrived son Constantino.  Tino’s believes in using the freshest locally grown ingredients available, in conjunction with authentic imported San Marzano tomatoes and high protein flours to produce “creatively modern pizzas.”

    Fringe Pizza- CO

Fringe describes themselves as “an offbeat pizza joint that feels on point.” Serving a full menu, beer, and wine – their way.  House-made dough and top-shelf ingredients from both Italy and America are just the starting point for their distinctive menu selections. Their pizzas are just as likely to be topped with cider-braised bacon, poached pears, and mango jalapeno BBQ sauce as they areSan Marzano tomatoes, D.O.P prosciutto, and pecorino cheese.

    BlackBox Pizzeria – Iceland

It’s hard for some to imagine great pizzas coming out of a mostly black, Gothic style-interior, but don’t let the skull head with a tomahawk on Black Box’s billboards scare you away from this iconic locale.  Once inside, you’ll warm up to their inviting pizzas and local Lagers in no time! BlackBox’s menu includes traditional Italian-style pizzas with creative interpretations such as an Egyptian-spiced Veggie version and even a Mexican pizza complete with nachos and chili mayo.
